Rotary dryers are used in various industries to reduce moisture content, increase the durability of materials and make products ready for storage or use. These products utilise a rotating drum to provide drying. This drum rotates the materials placed in it and brings them into contact with heated air. At the end of the process, the moisture content of the materials to be dried is largely removed.
The basic working principle of these dryer products includes three main stages of the material drying process. The first of these is known as the feeding stage. In this stage, moist materials are transferred to the inlet zone of the rotary drum dryer. After the materials are added, this part starts to rotate slowly. In the drying stage, the materials inside the drum come into contact with hot air. The inner surface of the drum evaporates the moisture of the materials in contact with the heated air. Water vapour is important for the drying process at this stage.
The last stage can be called the exit stage. The dried materials leave the outlet area of the rotary drum and become ready for use or storage. At this stage, the materials are no longer wet and have become a processed product.
Rotary drum dryer can be considered as a kind of industrial drying machine. These dryers are designed in the shape of a drum. Rotary dryer types represent a modern technology used for drying moist or wet materials.
